Darul Ihsan Hosts Parenting Webinar - Ihsan In Action

On Saturday, 8 June 2024, the Guideline Islamic Counselling hosted a webinar titled, “Ihsan in Action: A Parent’s Guide to Digital Dilemmas”, providing parents with uplifting family guidance and tips underpinned by Islamic wisdom on how to navigate the challenges that stem from the digital world.

The webinar was directed by the principal of Al Ihsan Muslim School, Maulana Ilyaas Eshak, who began by highlighting the honour and privilege of parenthood as well as the responsibility that accompanies this status.

The Head of the Darul Ihsan Social Department, Maulana Muhammad Ameer, Social Worker, Fathima Moolla as well as Muldersdrift Addiction Counsellor, Maulana Zakaria Murchie shed valuable insights on topics such as “Wellbeing in the Digital Age,” “Facing the Facts of Online Addiction” and “Rewiring Families To Increase Connection.

Notable points included understanding the opportunities and challenges of the digital world, symptoms and remedies of online addiction and also the status of parents, the value of children, and the Amanat we are entrusted with.

The key take away from the various sessions was the need for balance and moderation when delving into digital spaces as well as a holistic family orientated approach to avoid abuse and achieve maximal benefit.

The webinar ended with a Q&A session which gave parents the opportunity to interact with the panelists and pose their challenges.

Alhamdulillah, the webinar was well received with great feedback from the parents:

“Very informative, shukran, appreciate it”
